Our Story
Dell Harris and Lee King first met while studying electrical and mechanical engineering at Thaddeus Stevens College in Lancaster, PA. What began as late-night jam sessions and a shared fascination with audio quickly evolved into a vision: creating a space where technical precision and creative passion could meet.
After refining their craft in Philadelphia, they moved operations to York, PA, and founded Studio 117. What started as a modest idea between two engineers has since grown into Central Pennsylvania’s premier recording and audio education hub.
Studio 117’s success is defined by both innovation and community impact:
Global Reach: Partnering with the top 5 tech companies in the world to provide the voice of new and emerging technologies.
Artistic Diversity: Serving over 500 artists across genres including rap/hip hop, R&B, rock, country, pop, reggaeton, bachata, salsa, merengue, dembow, afropop, and more.
Community Impact: Delivering music therapy with some of the top hospitals in the country and leading the push for state-level licensure to expand access to music therapy.
Education Partnerships: Collaborating with local colleges and high schools to provide training, mentorship, and real-world experience to the next generation of engineers, producers, and creatives.
Acoustic Innovation: Serving as a certified vendor for Primacoustic and designing solutions for premier venues such as the Yorktowne Hotel, Brewvino Grandview, and Collusion Tapworks.
Studio 117 has become a recognized leader in audio production, education, therapy, and acoustic design, a place where technology, talent, and community come together to create lasting impact.
